Mid-Michigan gets blasted AGAIN

By: Amanda Crabtree
Mid-Michigan residents are becoming accustomed to winter storm warnings flashing across the bottom of their screen this winter.
School cancellations began before noon Wednesday as heavy snow made road conditions worsen throughout the day
Central Michigan University did not close their campus until 4 p.m., when heavy snowfall made commuter parking lots turn into traffic jams.
“It took me 45 minutes to go less than three miles,” said Melissa Limber, Kentwood senior, “ I think campus should have closed at least a couple hours earlier.”
According to the National Weather Service, weather may stay severe through Thursday morning, with accumulations totaling more than one foot in some areas.
Steven Smith, director of media relations at CMU, sent the e-mail notifying students and staff of the cancellation. The email said the decision for Thursday’s cancellation will be made no later than 6 a.m.
Most evening programs and sporting events in the area are being canceled. For more information visit wcfx.com.
Saginaw Valley State as well as many community colleges in the area also closed down early due to the bad weather.
According to NBC 25 the heavy snow may last until 1 and 3 a.m. Thursday, with accumulations of 1 to 2 inches of accumulation per hour.
