Due to inclement weather Central Michigan University closed at 4 p.m. today.

Another severe storm has dumped snow on Mount Pleasant canceling classes once again. Students were relieved, but were hoping for an earlier cancellation.

“I had to drive to campus to work for one hour when I already knew campus would be closing,” said Walker junior Rick Nikodemski. “If I get in an accident driving home, I’m going to be upset.”

The National Weather Service said a winter storm warning is in effect and snowfall will average an inch per hour this evening. Travel conditions will become increasingly hazardous throughout the night.

Additional accumulation of approximately eight inches is expected throughout the evening.

Visibility dropped to less than a half mile at times this afternoon.

The winter storm warning will stay in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday. An update will be available by 6 a.m. Thursday as to the status of the university.
